Going Green…Annapolis style

Hey, fellow boaters! It is almost time to launch the boats for Spring! Mine is launching in a couple of weeks and I couldn’t be more excited! Is your marina on the clean marina list? It is so important to do our part to keep the waters of the Chesapeake Bay clean and healthy. As boaters, we go out of our way to use products that are safe for the environment. But is your marina going the extra mile to be a certified clean marina?

Click the link to view the list of marinas that have voluntarily met rigorous pollution prevention standards set forth by the Maryland Clean Marina Committee & the DNR: https://dnr.maryland.gov/boating/Pages/cleanmarina/cleanmarinas.aspx

Don’t see your marina on the clean list?

Don’t fret. There are a lot of other things you can do as a captain to keep our waters clean…Did you shrink-wrap for the winter and want to recycle that plastic? If your marina does not recycle shrink wrap, you are in luck…simply email [email protected] or log onto mtam.org and request a recycle bag. Be sure to follow the instructions and you can do your part to cut down on waste and protect our water!

I hope this info is useful to all my green-thumbed captains! Keep a lookout for our blogs on more boating tips!
